If you know anything about skin care (and we know you do) then you’re already using one or all three of these ingredients in your routine: vitamin C (antioxidant), retinol (anti-aging) and hyaluronic acid (hydration).

These popular and efficient ingredients can be found in a lot of products that offer many benefits for a glowing and youthful skin. However, what’s the best way to combine them for optimal results?

Well beauties, we’ve asked Dr. Costi to give us an easy plan to follow. Let’s find out what he had to say on the matter.

Vitamin C: used to treat uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation.

As per Dr. Costi, vitamin C is proven as an effective antioxidant to help neutralize the damage from free radicals (like UV rays, cigarette smoke and pollution.)

A serum will help to brighten the appearance of your skin and bring a high concentration of active ingredients deep within the skin layers.

Retinol: used to treat fine lines and wrinkles.

Retinol is the best thing and only proven ingredient to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

By increasing cell turnover, it also increases the production of collagen in the skin, constantly renewing your skin’s surface.

“This will also provide a glowing complexion, and can help with other skin concerns like acne and uneven skin tone” adds Dr. Costi.

Hyaluronic Acid: used to replenish and hydrate dry skin.

Hyaluronic acid is praised as a star in the skincare scene for the fact that it has the ability to hold 1,000 times its weight in water. This provides all skin types with fabulous moisture, day and night, making it feel hydrated and look dewy.

How can we effectively use them together?

Morning:

After cleansing your face, apply a Vitamin C Serum.

Gently pat the Vitamin C serum onto your skin, you can do so while your skin is still damp to help the serum penetrate deeper. Try the Obagi Professional C serum 15% pure vitamin C with antioxidant L-Ascorbic Acid.

Use it for your neck and décolletage as well.

Follow with a Hyaluronic Acid.

Once you’ve given your vitamin C serum a moment or two to absorb into the skin, it’s time to layer on your hyaluronic acid.

If you’re concerned with moisture and preventing the signs of aging, we suggest the Filorga Time filler cream. The creamy gel texture of this highly concentrated formula will immediately replenish the skin and make it look fuller.

The best of both

And if you’re pressed for time in the morning, Dr. Costi suggests a 2 in 1 product like the SVR Hydracid C20 for an immediate glow. This gel cream combines Vitamin C with Hyaluronic acid to energize skin that is tired, creased and lacking color.

Evening

After double-cleansing your face, use Retinol.

On clean dry skin, apply a night cream like the Resultime Night Cream Retinol which will replenish and re-densify your skin for a more defined contour. With Vitamin A (retinol) and micro-collagen, apply it to your face and neck in upward sweeping strokes.

As magical as Retinol is for problematic and mature skin, it is still a product that anyone can benefit from to improve their skin.

Warning: as it causes the skin to regenerate, retinol can cause irritation- so proceed with caution when trying a new product.

Now tell us beauties: who’s got smooth, unified and radiant skin? You do!
